Those looking for an inshore New Jersey charter boat fishing trip, a New Jersey tuna fishing charter, a New Jersey canyon tuna fishing charter or an offshore New Jersey sportfishing charter will find a quality experience starts here. Captain Bernie Roth is owner and operator of Tenacious Sport Fishing located in Brick, NJ sailing out of Manasquan Inlet. He is licensed by the Coast Guard, has four years US Naval experience and has fished and operated a boat in local waters since 1970. He is retired from IBM and is a state licensed driving instructor for Seville Driving School in Brick. Shortly after retirement he began charter fishing to share his fishing enthusiasm and expertise with those who wanted a different kind of charter fishing experience. An experience based on a "hands-on", relaxed environment at lower cost. He is living a dream and loves to teach customers how to catch fish. His New Jersey charter fishing boat is fortunate to have a very large variety and quantity of sportfish available. In spring and fall the striped bass fishing, blackfish fishing and wreck fishing are productive. From spring through fall the bluefish fishing, shark fishing and fluke fishing are productive. From July through early November the offshore canyons provide superb tuna fishing for yellowfin tuna, albacore tuna, bigeye tuna and bluefin tuna. During tuna fishing charters a number of marlin, swordfish, dolphin and sharks are also landed.

Tenacious is a custom built 44 ft. Henriques Sportfisherman with twin Lugger Turbo diesel engines. It is one of the toughest, safest and most seaworthy boats made. There is a 170 sq. ft. cockpit with two humongous in-deck fish boxes; a large salon with L-Shaped sofa, TV, VCR, Stereo, dinette seating six persons; a complete galley with Microwave and Coffee maker; complete bathroom facilities; two staterooms sleeping six persons; two zone air conditioning and heat; and a 8000 watt AC generator. Navigational and fish finding electronics are state of the art, high quality Raytheon & Furuno units. Communications and safety equipment includes 2 VHF radios, SSB radio, 8 person liferaft and EPIRB. The interior of the boat is paneled and trimmed in teak and is as gorgeous as it is spacious and comfortable. You can page down to view interior pictures and you are also welcome to inspect the boat at any time.

Tenacious' private parking area abuts a dock at a private residence, simplifying on-loading and off-loading. This results in a more relaxed and personal environment than a busy marina. There is a stainless steel fish cleaning station with running water on the dock to filet and prepare those fish that must be fileted at the dock. An ice maker provides free ice to pack your coolers.

Customers pay hard earned money to fish, not watch someone fish for them. You are welcome to assist the mate in as many chores as you would like such as preparing baits, baiting lines, setting out trolling lures and gaffing fish. It's your charter and we will let you become as involved as you want to be.

Customers will not return unless they enjoy the fishing experience and they consistently catch fish. 75% of our customers in the past year were repeat customers & 10% were referrals. Since starting our business in 1994, we have worked hard to develop a solid reputation for finding fish and helping the customers boat them. As an example, over the past five years our customers have averaged over 10 tuna per canyon charter, not counting the numerous swordfish and marlin that were also caught. Sometimes lady luck also adds to our hard work and our customers win a tournament such as the 2002 Mako Rodeo Tournment or catch a large fish such as the 254 lb swordfish boated in 2005. While we don't expect that to happen every year, we believe that proven tactics and continued hard work will satisfy our customers on a charter to charter basis.

Your Captain is proficient in the maintenance and repair of all on-board systems thereby reducing a major expense. Self maintenance, no dockage fees and no other marina fees reduces our costs. In addition we do not depend on profits from this business for our livelihood, therefore we can provide you with lower rates.
